On the distance between Heaven and hell

In Christ vs. Allah, John Quincy Adams, The truth about Islam on November 27, 2009 at 1:27 AM

It’s the span between Christ and Allah.

If only we had leaders today with the clarity and courage of John Quincy Adams.

Instead we have “great world religion of peace” and “Let’s not jump to any conclusions.”

“And he [Jesus] declared, that the enjoyment of felicity in the world hereafter, would be reward of the practice of benevolence here. His whole law was resolvable into the precept of love; peace on earth – good will toward man, was the early object of his mission; and the authoritative demonstration of the immortality of man, was that, which constituted the more than earthly tribute of glory to God in the highest . . . The first conquest of the religion of Jesus, was over the unsocial passions of his disciples. It elevated the standard of the human character in the scale of existence . . . On the Christian system of morals, man is an immortal spirit, confined for a short space of time, in an earthly tabernacle. Kindness to his fellow mortals embraces the whole compass of his duties upon earth, and the whole promise of happiness to his spirit hereafter. THE ESSENCE OF THIS DOCTRINE IS, TO EXALT THE SPIRITUAL OVER THE BRUTAL PART OF HIS NATURE.

[. . .]

“In the seventh century of the Christian era, a wandering Arab of the lineage of Hagar [i.e., Muhammad], the Egyptian, combining the powers of transcendent genius, with the preternatural energy of a fanatic, and the fraudulent spirit of an impostor, proclaimed himself as a messenger from Heaven, and spread desolation and delusion over an extensive portion of the earth. Adopting from the sublime conception of the Mosaic law, the doctrine of one omnipotent God; he connected indissolubly with it, the audacious falsehood, that he was himself his prophet and apostle. Adopting from the new Revelation of Jesus, the faith and hope of immortal life, and of future retribution, he humbled it to the dust by adapting all the rewards and sanctions of his religion to the gratification of the sexual passion. He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain, by degrading the condition of the female sex, and the allowance of polygamy; and he declared undistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind. THE ESSENCE OF HIS DOCTRINE WAS VIOLENCE AND LUST: TO EXALT THE BRUTAL OVER THE SPIRITUAL PART OF HUMAN NATURE

[. . .]

“Between these two religions, thus contrasted in their characters, a war of twelve hundred years has already raged. The war is yet flagrant . . . While the merciless and dissolute dogmas of the false prophet shall furnish motives to human action, there can never be peace upon earth, and good will towards men.” [p. 269]

-John Quincy Adams
  1. Muhammad, as is obvious from the accounts of his life, was a schizophrenic.

  2. Oh, that we had such wisdom and insight in our current leaders!

  3. Sir Amillennialist – Re: Mohamed Fadly's 'Understanding Islam' post, Nov 26, 2009 offering of "Farewell Sermon of Prophet Muhammad" – See my S/H comment (#5 comment) followed, with this response:—-"All men seem to have an ability to read holy text, then choose the parts that benefit themselves, and their own circumstance…and reject or abrogate (annul, break off, abolish or ignore) those parts that tend to interfere with their own selfish desires and foolish notions. No man, not one,…is perfect! This flexibility allows political leaders to set "unholy" goals of conquest & mayhem, head-choppings, hand & foot choppings (from opposite sides), the grim stonings of young girls that may tend to stray from rigid law (often the victims of of forced rape) the parental "honor killings", the abject subjugation of women by men as "inferior" beings, the sexual mutilations (FGM) of young girls, the nastiness of permitted rape & incest, etc. Man's predations have no boundaries in some cultures.Typically, it's commonplace when people focus on just the positive aspects of "holy" texts, and purposely avoid or ignore the grim, the ugly. See rory's opening sentence, approving the "love & tolerance" part. The skeptic, noticing these apologetic traits in so many, that are "totally devoted to spiritual truths" are viewed as prime examples of deception and fraud. The Grand Ayatollahs of IRAN Lust for ABSOLUTE POWER over any feigned quest for TRUTH!Therefore, the Agnostic position of remaining skeptical of man's primitive claims or designs…of withholding judgement…seems far more rational than that of the religious fanatic…be he Muslim, Christian, Hindu…or the beleaguered, courageous Jew." (End)—-Why Fadly permitted the above to remain (?) after deleting two recent comments, is anyone's guess. reb______________________________________________

  4. Nov 30, 2009 – Again, Mohamed Fadly has deleted my third comment this month! (see it above). It is clear that he is no longer willing to accept a different perspective; either say something sweet & flowery about Allah's Apostle & their "holy book"…or you're deleted. 'Understanding Islam' blog is no longer an open forum, allowing differing, politely logical opinions.Still no comments from ANYONE from Egypt… Mohamed's home turf! The closed mind is a terrible waste. reb—- ____________________________

  5. There are moments when I wonder why I spend a couple of hours each day at this computer.Today I found this:

  6. I cannot understand why Mohamed Fadly deletes so many of my comments; he claims to be a "moderate"…and I'm a moderate too! I just can't understand why he would be offended when I quote the holy Qur'an, like this one:Allah's Apostle said: "I have been made victorious with terror." Bukhari Vol 4, Book 200.Or this one – "…strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies of Allah, and your enemies." Qur'an 8:60 – reb—————————

  7. REMEMBER PEARL HARBOR – December 7, 1941November 4, 1979 – Our U.S. Embassy in IranSeptember 11, 2001 – New York City—-We have the most powerful military force in worldhistory – And still, The Grand Ayatollah in Iranenriches U-235 – Our leaders have done nothing to stop him -…really nothing at all – reb~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  8. Telling the truth about Muhammad is counterproductive to Mohamed's efforts.Keep it up, Reb!
